P1748 Goudhurst (Finchcocks)

Project Description

Finchcocks is an early Georgian manor house in Goudhurst, Kent. For 45 years it housed a large, visitor-friendly museum of historical keyboard instruments, displaying a collection of harpsichords, clavichords, fortepianos, square pianos, organs and other musical instruments. It is now a 19-bedroom family home and a venue for residential piano courses and classical concerts.

Client Issues

The property was built 1725 and all the original features were to be kept in place. The client wanted to preserve paintings on ceilings, original floorboards and wanted all the pipework concealed.

RAD Solution

We managed to leave all ceiling details in place and run all our pipework within the void by lifting floor boards and utilising existing service voids that had been made redundant.
