Make sure you know how to use them though, don’t be fiddling and fumbling around because this could waste time.
• Be vigilant with cigarette butts: Make sure you extinguish cigarettes properly and don’t smoke while watching the television if you feel tired. Lit cigarettes are one of the biggest causes of fires in the home, people fall asleep with a cig in their hands and it falls on the sofa and ignites.
• Unplug electrical appliances: Make sure you unplug appliances when they aren’t in use, especially if you have them plugged into multi-way adaptors. Faulty electrical goods are another major cause of fires so get into the habit of unplugging electrical appliances before you retire to bed.
