Remember these firework tips in November
Every year, around the end of October and the beginning of November hundreds of people are injured by fireworks. Most of the injuries are caused by people being careless with fireworks. Some are burnt by bonfires and others are caught up in house fires as a direct result of Guy Fawkes celebrations. So, let’s talk about firework tips that can save you this November!
Your home would be safer with a Rad Fire Sprinkler system, plus you will be fine if you take this safety advice with the sincerity it is meant.
Here’s what to do if you are having a bonfire with fireworks this year.
Building a bonfire and safety advice
- Make sure you build a bonfire on flat land well away from buildings and wooden structures
- Ensure the bonfire is stable and well-supported before lighting
- Set a cordon to keep people away from the bonfire
- Check the bonfire before you light it for small children or animals
- Only use fire-lighters and never try to ignite the fire with petrol or other flammable liquids
- Keep buckets of water or a hose handy to douse flames in case of emergency
It’s a good idea to have a couple of people marshalling the bonfire at all times. Plus you should keep pets indoors and pay close attention to small children that will be fascinated by the fire.
Firework Tips
- Keep fireworks in a metal tin with a lid on the top
- Only light one firework at a time
- Close the lid on the firework tin between launch times
- Light at arm’s length
- Use a taper to light fireworks
- Never return to a firework that goes out
- Use approved tubes to launch rockets
- Don’t point fireworks at people
- Always launch fireworks in the air, away from people and property
Stay safe and enjoy this bonfire night. One way to prevent danger is to attend an organised event. That’s what we’ll be doing at Rad Fire Sprinklers – it’s safer and stacks of fun!
